Behavioral Camp Impact: A Story of Lasting Change

Behavioral Camp Impact: A Story of Lasting Change

He didn’t see it then — but he sees it now.

The behavioral camp impact doesn’t always show up right away. Instead, the most important lessons often take years to fully take root.

This is the story of a quiet transformation from a Summer 2017 alum.

A Story of Quiet Transformation

When he first arrived at the 30-day behavioral camp, he didn’t think much of it.

Back then, he was a middle school kid on the edge of high school — impulsive, undisciplined, and convinced he had life figured out. Like many boys his age, he acted first and thought later. As a result, consequences rarely felt real to him.

Then everything changed.

The structure of the camp hit him hard.

There were no shortcuts. There were no excuses. And there was no way to go unnoticed.

Instead, every day required responsibility. Every task demanded effort. Even simple moments carried meaning — whether he recognized it or not.

The Discipline That Didn’t Make Sense — Until It Did

He remembers the work clearly.

For example, he spent long days:

  • Mowing roadside ditches
  • Sweeping the national cemetery
  • Cleaning the police gun range

At the time, those tasks felt like nothing more than chores.

However, looking back now, he sees the deeper behavioral camp impact. Those moments were building something far more important:

  • Humility
  • Discipline
  • Responsibility
  • Purpose

In addition, he remembers the gatherings.

Glenn and the team would sit with the boys and share pieces of their own lives. They didn’t do it to impress them. Instead, they did it to guide them.

Because of that, seeds were planted — even if the boys didn’t realize it at the time.

Change Was Happening — Even When He Didn’t See It

This young boy didn’t see the change. Even so, change was happening.
Now, nearly a decade later, the difference is clear. Today, he’s in his 20s and building a successful career shaped by discipline, integrity, and thoughtful decision-making. Ironically, those are the very qualities he once lacked.

Over time, the dots began to connect.

The structure he resisted became the structure he now depends on.
The lessons he once ignored became part of the foundation he stands on.
Even the spiritual guidance he didn’t fully understand became a compass he still values today.

A Quiet Thank You

Recently, he wrote in using a pseudonym.

He didn’t want attention.

Instead, he simply wanted to say thank you.

  • Thank you for the discipline
  • Thank you for the structure
  • Thank you for the stories
  • Thank you for the impact he didn’t recognize until years later

This is the true behavioral camp impact.

It’s not about immediate results. Rather, it’s about lasting transformation.

Why the Behavioral Camp No Longer Exists

The camp didn’t close because the need disappeared.
In many ways, the need has only grown.
It closed because a program like that could only be done well with significant resources, staffing, and safeguards — and those demands eventually exceeded what a small ministry could carry.
Even so, the impact did not end when the camp did. It lives on in stories like his.

The Mission Continues Today

Even though the camp is no longer active, the behavioral camp impact continues.

Today, that mission lives on through Parenting R.O.I.; helping families build structure, discipline, and leadership early.

As a result, parents can address behaviors before they grow into larger problems.

Transformation Doesn’t Always Happen Right Away

“Glenn’s program probably helped me get here,” he said.

And he’s right.

It did.

Transformation doesn’t always announce itself in the moment.

Instead, it often shows up years later — in the man a boy becomes.

Summer 2017 alum.
Forever grateful.
